Took forever, (over a month), to get this from OP, on a google search it said "in-stock" but when I actually checked the OP website the actual status was there. The smiths tinder maker is so much smaller than the bear gryllis version. The BG version has a sliding top so you will never lose the grater but you can lose the protective cover on the BG version and it could tear up your pack. Both versions have very sharp graters. The grater openings are smaller on the smiths version and produces much finer tinder. The smiths fire steel just plain works, ONE strike into the freshly made tinder pile produced a fire, it is that simple. The BG version uses a magnifying glass to start the tinder, hope you have sunshine, or you are out of luck. Retie the knot that holds the smiths striker and fire steel, mine came undone and fell apart. It is a very small unit and can easily fit into a pocket. The only issue is that the grater top could pop off and you could lose it in the woods as there is no way to scecure it. An inexpensive product that flat out works!
